  • Red beetroot is rich in vitamins C, A, E, K. They have an important content of B-vitamins (B1- thiamine, B2-riboflavin, B3-niacin, B5-pantothenic acid, B6-pyridoxine, B9-folates and B12-cyancobalamin), as well as folic acid and powerful antioxidants, such as triterpenes, sesquiterpenoids, carotenoids, coumarins, flavonoids (tiliroside, astragalin, rhamnocitrin, rhamnetin, kaempferol), betalains and phenolic compounds.
  • The aim of this review article is to briefly present the importance and therapeutic properties of red beetroot for human consumption.
